Electric Companies 1 – Cheap Energy for This Winter

Snow forecast for 2015

In the past two years, we have experienced lower temperatures than normal; fortunately, the forecast for this winter shows that it won’t be as bad. Electric companies forecast their rates and deposits with 2 main ingredients in their formulas: weather forecasts and natural gas prices. Electric companies buy their kilowatts after carefully reviewing everything that will affect the customer’s consumption. If the weather is extreme and the customer’s usage is out of proportion, then the company may not have enough kilowatts to provide for all its customers. There are then two choices: close the company or buy megawatts at outrageous prices (1 x 1,000).

This winter, electric companies (in my opinion) will be just fine; we won’t see a huge increase in the kilowatt rates.  Why?  Read on.

The El Niño Effect

El nino chart 2015

El nino chart 2015

By wiki definition, El Niño is the prolonged warming of the Pacific Ocean’s surface temperatures when compared with the average value []. It’s predicted to be a “weak” El Niño, so we are not supposed to suffer extreme weather this winter. Look at this table… We also found a forecast for snow and ice conditions in Texas.

Be Careful with Your Utility Contracts.

At the same time, we have to be careful with utility contracts. Electric companies like Ambit often forget to remind their customers that their contracts are about to expire. When the customer is out of contract the kilowatt rate goes up by 50%. Others like Green Mountain and Reliant will assign you a new contract with the kilowatt rate and plan they want. Utilities like DPI or Direct Energy will send a text notification once a week, if that, and just right before you are to be disconnected.

We Do Things Differently.

1) We have over 50 years in high-risk management, including customer behavior, weather forecasts, and natural gas price fluctuations.
2) We understand that sending accurate and prompt information is key for our customers to know about their energy usage. Our daily text notifications keep our customers in the loop.
3) Everyone is welcome. As I posted before, try us out; see how many kilowatts you are saving with your home improvements and changing your energy usage.

Very soon we will offer more energy products like postpaid (month-to-month) with flexible agreements (6, 12, 24, and 36 months) for both commercial and industrial energy.

Keep following our blog or videos; you’ll see that energy is easier than it looks.

This is great post, we are always looking for ways to save on energy, it looks like this year the so called effect EL NINO is not going to affect our environment dramatically like other years, I remembered last year with polar vortexes swinging by after March. Now, let me ask you guys, is prepaid electricity services a real good thing to have? I am used to the paper bill arriving every month, bad thing is that it always arrives at the end of the month and due at the beginning when the big rent is due too.

My suggestion to you is this: when your contract with your current electric company expires try prepaid for 2-3 months, remember that with prepaid energy services you are not hooked with a large contract, you can cancel any time, look at your usage, we send daily text notifications of energy usage, modify your energy consumption by trying new ways of saving energy, if you like your billing and the way we do business, stay with us, in the case that you still want a monthly bill, this is great news because #electricityexpress is bringing new products suitable for everyone, prepaid, postpaid and commercial electricity.

Thanks for your comment, it really does help.
